As a stand-alone title, headline, subhead, footer, etc: Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College may appear in roman (non-italics), as it does not need to be set-off from running text. As part of a longer headline or title, etc: Soaring Higher or Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College is to be italicized. Example: Your Support of Soaring Higher…

RUNNING TEXT

Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College or simply Soaring Higher is to always be set italics, not bolded, in running text. Except for running text in italics, in which case Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College or Soaring Higher is to be set in Roman.

Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College or Soaring Higher may be bolded upon its first use in a piece of content, to be defined as a distinct piece of writing that can/does exist independently of other content.

For a piece of content that cannot exist independently from other content, Soaring Higher may be bolded only upon its first use in the entire collection of content.
For example:

  • A Beacon Magazine article would be considered a distinct piece of content because it can be consumed outside of the context of the rest of Beacon; therefore the campaign name may be bolded in the first use of each article mentioning Soaring Higher.
  • A section in a proposal mentioning Soaring Higher would not be bolded, as that section cannot exist outside of the context of the proposal. Only the first mention of Soaring Higher in the entire proposal may be bolded.
CAPITALIZATION

Unless at the start of a sentence, the “the” before Soaring Higher is not capitalized, whether as part of the full, formal name—Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College—or the shorter Soaring Higher:

  • The goal for the Soaring Higher campaign is…
  • The Soaring Higher campaign is to… (only capitalized because it’s at the start of the sentence)
